November is National Family Caregivers Month. The theme this year is "Reach Out For Help". The National Family Caregivers Association (NFCA) coordinates National Family Caregivers Month as a time to thank, support, educate and empower family caregivers. Most family caregivers won’t ask for help. For some it is about privacy and not letting others know the personal details of their lives. For others it is about an admission of failure. But nothing could be further from the truth.
During National Family Caregivers Month this November, NFCA and supporting organizations are encouraging caregivers to “Reach Out for Help”.
Family caregiving is more than a one person job and reaching out for help is not a sign of weakness but rather of strength. It demonstrates a keen awareness of one’s own abilities and an understanding that in order to successfully meet all your responsibilities, whether they are at work, at home, or in the community, you need to rely on others.
